Hello WVN Churches:
Enclosed is everything you will need to begin
registering your teens for Regional BLAST at Mount
Vernon Nazarene University on June 11-13, 2009.
Additional information and updates along with the BLAST
Handbook are available on the BLAST website:
www.mvnu.edu/blast.
Your completed registration information and money is due
to the District Coordinator no later than April
26,
2009.
I
have enclosed the following:
·
Registration Form
·
Medical & Civil Liability Form
·
Criminal Background Check Form
·
Church
Checklist
·
Participant/Spectator/Chaperone Checklist
·
Housing Roster Request Form
Along with completing all these forms you will to make
sure every teen from your church is registered online
on the BLAST Web site,
www.mvnu.edu/blast. You will also need to print out
a copy of the handbook and rules also on the BLAST Web
site and review the rules with your group.
The
WVN NYI Council and Regional BLAST leaders are asking
that you send one adult for every six (6) teens of the
same sex. Example: 7 teen girls would need 2 adult
women; 12 teen boys would need 2 adult men. This will
help to ensure that every teen is supervised by an adult
from their church in the dormitories/apartments. If
this is going to impair your ability to send all of the
teens that wish to attend, you can make arrangements
with adults from another church that is not already
supervising six (6) teens. Please have the coordinator
from that church contact the District Coordinator with
which teens they will be supervising.
Every adult must have a Criminal Background check on
file at the WVN District Office to attend BLAST. Please
check with the Office Manager Wilda Swisher
(304-363-5767) to see if you are on the list. If you
are not on file at the District Office, you will need to
submit the background request form to them so you can be
approved as a chaperone. A request form is included in
this packet. Failure to have the Criminal Background
Check completed will eliminate you as a chaperone---NO
EXCEPTIONS.
There have been several changes to BLAST this year.
Please check the BLAST Handbook for rules and
regulations. They are as follows:
·
NO
HOTEL BLOCKS SECURED BY BLAST: BLAST will no longer be
securing hotel blocks. If your group wishes to stay
off-campus, then you will need to make your own
reservations.
·
CATEGORIES ELIMINATED: Speech, Oral Interpretation and
Web Design.
·
CATEGORAY CHANGE: Human Video has been extended to
eight (8) minutes.
·
CATEGORY ADDED: Martial Arts KATA
I
look forward to meeting and working with your church.
BLAST is a great experience and it is my prayer that
every possible teen will be able to attend. If you have
any questions please feel free to call or email me. My
phone number and email address are listed at the bottom
of the page.
Serving
Him,
Barbara Haught
