MISSION ENCOUNTER 2008 July 6-12 Nassau Bahamas

Update of Project Selection

We have chosen to take as our project the Metropolitan Churchh of the Nazarene which is a Haitian congregation. We will have various opportunities to work on this project. It includes expanding the worship platform in the sanctuary (some demolition), wood framing and drywall to a new addition on the back of the church, painting and building of shelves in an office area. There is also an upstairs room to be built above the platform that will include the laying of cinder block walls and other cement work. We will also share in some music celebration and kids ministry while we are there.

It is possible that a few kids could be sent to the youth hostel we helped refurbish to do ministry with the South Carolina NYI group that is being led by Tim Haynes.

We are extending the deadline for sign up for the trip. This needs to be done as soon as possible because of commitments needed to the airlines and room reservations. All forms and original letter about the trip can be found on the district website and on the NYI website.

I recently returned from a site visit and stayed in the hotel we will be in. I am sure you will enjoyed the accommodations. Remember this is an all inclusive trip covering your airfare from Pittsburg, food including 2 meals a day Monday through Friday (flying days you need to bring extra money for food), your room and travel to and from the project. Your extra cost is personal spending such as extra snacks or souvenirs, and personal bus travel on free day which is $1 each way, and tourist activities.

As we get closer to the trip more details will be sent to those signed up. Remember you will need a passport for this trip. Once you sign up with the $100 deposit we will need you to send regular payments per the following payment schedule:

February 29 $225
March 31 $225
April 30 $250
May 17 $250

Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Pastor Jim Larrabee
